Death by Cross Stitch and other goodies.

I have been able to stitch on my Death by Cross Stitch the last two week. Since I switched back to a q-snap frame. I am almost done the upper left corner.

My Jewel box quilt top is completed, I like how it turned out. I used greens and neutrals from my scraps/stash. I only had to purchase the dark green for the second border. This make 2 quilt tops finished for 2017 so far. My tumbler quilt top was a UFO but the jewel box I just started in December.

Wednesday our Sew Much Fun sewing group made little business card holders. So easy I made 2 in a very short time. I am going to make a bunch from my scraps.

Today I was making a place for my Accuquilt Cutting Dies and got a little sidetracked after getting them in place. I had gotten the Snail Trail die during the December sale but had not played with it so today I did. I cut enough blues and neutrals to make 6 blocks. I ended up making 3 before my side really started to bother me. They turned out pretty good and I am thinking about mixing them with some Ohio Stars. I'll keep you posted.

Cross Stitching, Embroidery and Quilting on My

Put about 20 stitches in my Mary Wigham last week.

I am embroidering on Block 31- Blossoming

Finished a top for a carry around quilt for Brentley, he loves Kevin.

Got my Grand Illusions back from the LAQ, now I need to make the binding and get it sewn on.

I also made and sewed together 208 half square triangles and made this quilt top for one of my Nephew in law's birthday in July.

Wee I think this is enough for a while. Oh wait I am also working on my Tumbler quilt in between.
Only 7 or 8 more rows to go.

Almost caught up

I am back to the pool in the mornings and back in the quilt room. I am also working on my Mary Wigham sampler.

I have done all of the blocks for The Splendid Sampler but block 29 and it will be done tomorrow. I am finding some of the techniques use in some of the block pretty hard but I have made up my mind to do them as they come. I have done 10 blocks since I got home. I did blocks 23 to 28 and the 4 bonus blocks that I didn't do when they came out.

I'm Back from vacation

I am back from my vacation to Virginia and visiting my family. I started out with a overnight stop in Gastonia NC and a trip to Mary Jo's Cloth Store.  Spent $20 over my budget but got Mary Jo's bucks that I went back and spent. Got a Thread Stand for my thread cones for 58 cents.
I went on to Danville Virginia to attend my nieces graduation for her MBA from Averett University. Here is Ashlea with her sister Kelli. I am very proud of the wonderful women they have become.

Than I went on to Stafford to spend time with my sister Janet and her family. I also got to see my sister Lulu and her family too. It was great to see them since I always seem to miss her on my trips north. Next time I hope to get down to see her new house.
The purchase from my trip

I also drove up to Alexandria a couple of times and was able to visit with some dear friends. They all know me so well. Karen and I went to Hancock Fabric (which is going out of business) for fabric on Thursday than on Monday I went back with Jan and Lynn.
I also stopped by In Stitches with Jan and Lynn and purchased 3 cross stitch patterns. I love Long Dog Sampler patterns. They just really called to me as I walked around my favorite cross stitch store. I really love this great shop and the people that run it and work there.
I didn't get much sewing done while at Janet's but I did finish two small market bags for I had prepped before I left home. One was for Janet and the other was for Kristy.

And last but not least is a picture of my great nephew Brentley. I got to spend a lot of time with him watching Paw Patrol. Here he is trying to get the remote to find cartoons. My sister has Infinity and you can talk to the remote. He just kept saying Watch Watch to the remote, I know it looks like he's eating it but he's not. Ok he's two and a real love bug. They are staying at my sister's until they close on there house in Norfolk this week.

Cross Stitch UFO

I have pulled out my next UFO to work on. I have promised myself to finish a UFO before I start anything new. Yes yes I have a couple of cross stitch patterns with quilts that I want to do for the quilt room but I am going to wait.
This one is called Mary Wigham, it is a sampler that was made by Mary Wigham in 1790 at the Ackworth School in England. I am doing the sampler on 25 count over 1.

This is the original sampler, as you can see I am changing some of the colors around. I will most likely tea dye the whole thing once I have it done. I am also going to put my family initials in it and my name will replace hers in the middle.
I am glad that I have picked up my needles and magnifer again. I have enjoyed Cross Stitching since 1987 when my friend Jan B. taught me the art of stitching.

WooHoo Cross Stitch to show

I have been working on a cross stitch piece for my friend Gail and today I was able to give it to her. I finished it last night and got the frame today and couldn't wait to give it to her.

She and her husband Bill are snowbirds and are leaving Friday to make there way back to Colorado Springs for the summer. She has orders to take it back to Colorado with them so when she sees it she remembers to come home to OTOW.

I have promised to do the one for Colorado so she can have it here when they come back in September.

Happy Stitching Everyone.
