Sunday August 9th 2009

I have been surfing and looking at so many stitching blogs over the last few days and Biy Howdy am I impressed with all the things I have seen.
There are many many talented stitchers out there and I want to be one of them. I seem to have long periods when I just don't stitch for one reason or another. Gee the same thing goes for writing in my blog too. But I hope to do better at both.

On a few of the blogs I saw where they had posted answers to some question about Cross Stich that were asked by Melissa. So I desided to post my answer here on my site.

1)Why do you stitch?
I stitch because I like the looks of the wonderful things I find out there to stitch. I like the creativeness of the designers and I like to feel that I have created something beautiful using their design.

2) On a scale of 1-10 with 1 being least important and 10 being most important what is your cross stitch passion level?
I have to say I go from being a 2 to being a 8 depending on how I am feeling at the time. Sometimes I can sit and stitch for 8 hours or more while others times I throw a dust cover over my current project and spend a few days just reading.

3)If you're only option for cross stitch supplies and patterns happened to be the major chain craft stores would you just walk away from the little X? Kiss it goodbye?
Welllllllll as many of the others stitchers have said I have a large stash that would enable me to stitch for a long while without having to buy more than a few skeins of floss. My material stash is not that large but I could make do with Aida if I had to, wouldn’t like it but I could..

4)Also are you so passionate about cross stitch that if indeed your only option was the major chain craft stores, would that inspire you to create your own cross stitch pieces because you have to stitch and you've stitched your way through the whole of Dimensions catalog--because you must stitch and the thought of life without a relationship with the little X leaves you feeling empty?
NO

5)Finally what do the cross stitch magazines on the market offer you? Do they relate to you as a cross stitcher? Do you look at them and think to yourself, who do they think buys this magazine? I guess what I'm asking, when you see the current cross stitch magazines do they make you feel like they know their readers or do you find it's more of the same? What could they do to be ambassadors for the art of cross stitch other than putting a sampler on the cover with "F-U" on it? What are we missing on a PR level that could change the opinion of cross stitch itself?
When I first started stitching in 1987 I ordered every magazine on cross stitch I could subscribe to in the USA. But today I only get The Gift of Stitching as a download. I will continue to get this magazine but the rest I only pick up at the my LNS if I like what I see after flipping though it at the store.

6) And finally, finally, do you do other crafts and if so what are they and why do they pull you away from cross stitch?
I do a little crocheting once in a while but mostly I let reading pull me away from my needle.
