Quilting Update 7/19

Heather's quilt is finished, I completed the quilting and the binding is sewn in place. I tried a flange binding and it turned out beautifully. I will be using this machine binding on most of  my quilts from now on.

I have also started my 2015 Leader and Ender Challenge. This year Bonnie Hunter picked a tumble quilt for the leader and ender challenge and I am going to be doing this one. I have cut many many 2 1/2 inch tumble's from my scraps. I am mixing some of my de-bone shirts and many of my other fabrics to make these tumbles. Over the next many months I will be using this tumbles at the beginning and ending of my piecing.

Two Quilt Tops finished

Finished the top for Shakespeare in the Park and have it on the table getting it sandwiched to quilt.
I finished the Scrap Vortex top and will quilt it when I get back from vacation next month. I am still working on a few other projects and will post them as I work on them.

This quilt will be going to my daughter and her husband in Missouri.

This is going to become my recliner quilt for those cool winter evening here in Florida

Sunday share

I finished the blocks for my Shakespeare in the Park and have it up on the design wall. This quilt is going to my daughter Heather in Missouri. I will be taking it with me when I visit her next month. The next step is sewing the block together. This one is sewn on the diagonal which I have never done before so I am taking it slow.
As you see it is to big for my design wall so I think it will fit her queen size bed. I also spotted two mistakes that I have corrected already. Glad I saw them before it was quilted.

I also worked on my Scrap Vortex this week. The blocks are getting bigger and bigger. I had it up on the design board before I put up SitP and posted it on FB. I know it is very very busy but I am not real sure how to calm it down. But I guess that's why its call a Scrap Vortex it just moves, stretches, twists and interacts in a complex way.

Back to the Quilting Room

Been stuck in reading mode again, plus fighting a stuffy nose but today I made myself close my Kindle for a little while.  I finally got to the grocery store and than back in the sewing room.
Here are the things I worked on today. I did another block in my BoM Galaxy of Stars and I finished sewing blocks for my Shakespeare in the Park.

I am behind on these block but will catch up slowly but surely.

This is the first 20 blocks for my Shakespeare in the Park. These are the Virginia Reel blocks.   I have to do 20 Star blocks and 16 smaller blocks to complete this large throw.
Happy Stitching Everyone.
