Cross Stitching, Embroidery and Quilting on My

Put about 20 stitches in my Mary Wigham last week.

I am embroidering on Block 31- Blossoming

Finished a top for a carry around quilt for Brentley, he loves Kevin.

Got my Grand Illusions back from the LAQ, now I need to make the binding and get it sewn on.

I also made and sewed together 208 half square triangles and made this quilt top for one of my Nephew in law's birthday in July.

Wee I think this is enough for a while. Oh wait I am also working on my Tumbler quilt in between.
Only 7 or 8 more rows to go.

Grand Illusion Mystery top is done.

My Grand Illusions Mystery Quilt top is completed. Now it will go to the Quilt Rack until I am ready to quilt it.

Yesterday I pulled out all my fabric's so that I can get them in order by color. That way I will be able to find the fabric I want to use in my quilts. I am also getting my scraps cut into usable sizes. I want my quilt room set up so that I can spend time sewing not looking for the fabric I want to sew.
I think I have gotten a great start on my fabric stash since I just started quilting in Oct 2013 and I am still loving it and have plans for many more quilts.

Happy Stitching Everyone, no matter what kind of stitching your doing.

22 Days since last post.

Have not stitched since New Years. I didn't start off 2015 very well.  I spent 5 nights in the hospital from the 5th when the ambulance picked me up at the Doctor's office until late on the 10th when Gail and Bill picked me up. I was pretty out of it for the first few days and I am still getting my strength back. Not a good way to lose over 14 pound.
But I am home and finally spent time in the quilt room today and finished sewing together the center on my Mystery Quilt. I will be adding a 1 1/2 inch yellow border and another border in the next few days. It is very busy but I love it.

Happy Stitching everyone.

Happy 2015 It's a great start to a great Year,

I watched the ball drop to bring in 2015 right after the last few stitching were done to finish another band of Pot 4 Dickie .

Than I went to Quiltville to see that Bonnie had posted the last clue for the Grand Illusion Mystery Quilt. I wanted to head to the sewing machine right than but there was no way. This morning I got 3 blocks sewn than just had to put it on the design wall to see how it was going to look. It's very colorful and I can't wait till I get the rest done.
Oops as I am looking at the picture I see a block that was set in wrong, have to go fix that.
Happy Stitching everyone and stay safe and well in 2015

GIMQ Check in and others

Clue 5 came out Friday and I was able to get it done in a few hours so I had time to play in the quilt room. I also finished the band I was working on my cross stitch sample Pot 4 Dickie.
Here is clue 5 before I put it away with the other finished clues. These colors are really growing on me and it will be interesting to see how they all come together in a 88" by 88" quilt.

Here is P4D and the band I finished. You can see I already started the next band. The next two bands are pretty narrow and shouldn't take to long. I work on my cross stitch when I am not in the quilt room. I have found a good way to prop up my stitching frame and it is making stitching fun again.
Below are a few things I was playing with in ht e quilt room. I a always surprised by how much I am enjoying this sewing stuff.

The start of a Winter Table Topper I was playing with.

4 Disappearing Hourglass blocks take 2, only 14 more to go.

Mug Rugs for my brother and Karen.

Clue 4 Is Done and Pot 4 Dickie Update.

We are getting closer to the end of Bonnie Hunter's Yearly Mystery Quilt. She told us on Oct 9th what color fabric's and the amounts we would need for the mystery quilt. On Black Friday she posted the first clue. If you get a chance check out all the great link ups that are posted of the great quilters are posting of their progress. She will post the reveal New Years.
I have finished all four clues so far. It feels great to be able to keep up this year. Last year I got behind with the first clue and never bothered to keep going. This year is very different.

Here are my blocks for Fridays clue 4, finished. I have not purchased any fabric for this quilt, which is making this even more fun for me. I am making it totally scrappy so some of the colors aren't quite what Bonnie called for but I am using what I have. Or what a few friends have donated to the project.

Here is the next band on P4D. I am stitching away to get it finished by my 65th Birthday.

Happy Holiday Everyone and Stay Safe.

Clue 3 of Grand Illusion Mystery Quilt

Put aside Clue 2 blocks while I did some of the blocks for Clue 3 of Bonnie Hunter's GIMQ. I have sewn 70 of the 120 blocks but have the others cut out ready to sew. When they are finished I will finish up the blocks for Clue 2.

I decided to use what ever material was in my stash for this scrappy quilt, instead of buying more. My greens are not the grassy greens that Bonnie is using, but they work for me.
I am also working on Pot 4 Dickie so will post an update on the next band when it is done.
Happy Holidays Everyone and Stay Safe.

Pot 4 Dickie and GIMQ update

Wow I finally finished this band on Pot 4 Dickie so I only have 3 narrow bands and 3 wider bands left to do. One of the wider bands is 3 lines of Dutch lettering that translates to "The granddaughter of Theodore Hendriks has made this sampler" I will put in the name of my grandfather name. Also the phrase that you can see in the picture translates as "after the rain the sun will shine"

I have also completed 51 of my blocks for Clue 2 of the Grand Illusion Mystery Quilt. I will not get the other 49 done before the new clue comes out in the morning so I will be working on both clues next week.

Happy Stitching Everyone.

Friday in the quilt room

I spent a few hours in the quilt room this morning jumping from project to project only getting one thing almost completed.
1. First thing I did was a sample block for Clue two in the Grand Illusion Mystery Quilt. I need to work on it and cut way more fabric but I wanted to get one done.
Block 1 of 100 and it is a little off so I need to figure out what I did wrong. It is only 1/8'' but if you times that by a 100 the quilt will be way off so I will work on this tomorrow.

I also cut the lining for two market bags that were put on hold while I worked on the two Mondo Bags I made.

Then I worked on making a pre-printed cloth book. I was given the books and would like to get them made but I can see this is not going to become something I do a lot of.  I am going to hit the recliner and slip closed these pages so it will be finished. Cute isn't it.

Once that is finished I am going to finish hand sewing the edge of a hand made Grandmothers Flower Garden Quilt for a friend. It has been sitting here long enough. Now that my finger is healed I should be able to do the hand sewing and get it done. Than if I am not crazy I am going to work on Pot 4 Dickie. Its not going to be done by 2015 but it will be done in 2015.
Happy Stitching everyone.
